Every few weeks someone asks me about partner codes. Usually the same avatrade partner code question: do you get discounted fees or free trading?
Short answer: no. AvaTrade has no commission on forex trades. You pay the spread. The spread is the fee. A partner code doesn't change that.
The code 128979 activates the bonus program. Bonus money added to your account based on deposit size. That's all it does.
How much bonus do you receive?
Deposit $1,000 and get $200.
Put in $2,000, get $400.
$5,000 to $9,999 adds $1,000.
Deposit $100,000+ and you can get up to $14,000. Most people won't hit that.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Top tier reaches £11,200.
Account minimum is $100. But you need $1,000 to qualify for bonus.
Where to enter the code
Registration page. Once you've filled in your phone number, you'll see small text reading "Have a Partner Code?". Click it. The field expands. Type **128979**.
Easy to miss since it's collapsed by default.
Sometimes it shows as invalid, don't worry. Finish signing up. Contact support before funding. Request partner code 128979 be added. They handle this regularly.
There's a catch with the bonus
You need to trade a certain volume.
Around 10,000 units per dollar of bonus. A $200 bonus means trading 2,000,000 units before that $200 unlocks. Takes a while if you trade small. Happens faster than you'd think if you're active.
Your own money stays yours. Withdraw it whenever you want. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
One thing worth knowing: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. You can hold larger positions than your deposit alone would allow. Newer traders benefit from that extra cushion.
